Sports Equipment Usage Policy
The Sundown Library is committed to supporting healthy recreation, positive youth engagement, and community wellness. To ensure safe and equitable access to library-owned sports equipment, the following policy applies:
1. Eligibility for Equipment Checkout
- Patrons ages 13 and older may check out sports equipment directly from library staff
- The Library will provide a daily rotation of sporting equipment for use by elementary school patrons during designated hours.
2. Checkout and Return Procedures
- Equipment must be returned to the library at the end of the same day or at the conclusion of the approved checkout period.
- Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were issued, excluding normal wear.
3. Patron Responsibilities
When using sports equipment, patrons are expected to:
- Use all equipment safely and for its intended purpose.
- Return all items on time and in good condition.
- Promptly notify library staff if any item is lost or damaged.
- Demonstrate responsible conduct at all times.
- Treat fellow patrons and library property with kindness, respect, and consideration.
The Library reserves the right to suspend equipment privileges for unsafe behavior, misuse of equipment, or repeated policy violations.
4. Damage, Loss, or Non-Return
- Patrons are financially responsible for equipment that is:

- Stolen
- Damaged beyond normal wear
- Not returned
Replacement or repair costs will be assessed according to current market value and library procedures. The Sundown Library assumes no responsibility for injuries resulting from the use of sports equipment. Participation in recreational activities is voluntary, and patrons are encouraged to exercise care and good judgment.
